A fabulous pair of antique Victorian pique (tortoiseshell) gold and silver inlaid earrings that can be dated to the height of their fashion circa 1880. These beautiful antique drop earrings are formed on a large oval drop with intricate detailing of floral and tendril motifs. The heads of circular form are also masterfully inlaid with stars and other geometric patterns.

These antique earrings would have been handmade during the mid-Victorian period (1860-1870) and would of required a highly skilled, specialised craftsman to produce. The production of such earrings had its origins in France and moved to England when the Huguenots escaped in the 17th Century where their craftsmanship spread. Very pretty earrings and a delight to wear - the detailing is seen from all sides and no chips or cracks are present. A rare find!
