A wonderful and unusual Victorian 9ct yellow gold rose cut diamond, ruby, split pearl and multi hue enamel locket dating from circa 1870. A Holbeinesque style piece with its use of gemstones and enamel very much in the manner of Holbein (in reference to the famous German artist Hans Holbein the younger (1497-1543)). The front of the locket is beautifully crafted and it’s selection of colours make it eye catching and totally unique. A splendid antique locket with the possibility remove the reverse to add a picture of a loved one or keep plane as desired. A great piece to add to any antique jewellery lovers hoard.
