A rare and beautiful Victorian 15ct yellow gold micro mosaic ring depicting a bouquet of two roses, one yellow and one red. The workmanship on this scale is superb, the tiny tiles are so delicately worked. This pretty circular antique ring is surrounded by a rope edge and still shows remains of foliate embossing on the shank. These micro mosaic pieces originated in Italy, where they were exported overseas or collected as souvenirs on the Great Tour.
Yellow roses denote the symbol of friendship, with the red rose meaning true love in the language of flowers. Hence the tradition on Valentine's Day for such gift. The recipient would be a friend and great love, a very fitting anniversary present for a partner. Also, for a plant lover too...
