A fine and elegant large, oval Victorian 9ct yellow gold ornately engraved double sided locket pendant, dating from the late 19th century circa 1890. Measuring 55mm high the deeply chased locket has two faces, one with a central unmarked plaque above which sits a bouquet of flowers surrounded by fine and detailed cursive motifs. The reverse side has a free flowing foliate inspired design which cuts across the centre of the panel above which sits further flowers and detailing.
The locket opens to reveal a double sided clear, glass compartment which traditionally would have been used by the original Victorian owner to hold a loved one, or in this case up to four, close to their heart. The locket is finished off with a large oval chased loop ideal for looping through finer or larger chains as desired.
