A fabulously intricate Georgian 18ct yellow gold amethyst and ruby canetille brooch with fine and ornate granulation, dating from circa 1830. During the late Georgian period there was a revival of labour intensive art forms with many jewellers striving to capture the wonderfully light and delicate movement such pieces displayed. This brooch is no exception with a central set oval amethyst set amongst twisting and turning gold work and fine granulation. To accentuate the piece further four rubies have been placed at each compass point adjacent to the amethyst. A truly beautiful piece of antique Georgian jewellery.
