An excellent Edwardian 9ct gold full sovereign case in fantastic condition in a highly polished finish. It looks hardly used at all and has been engraved on the front with initials E W & A in 1908. This case has a firm clasp and closes tightly, it has been fully hallmarked for 1906 in Birmingham. A great example of an antique sovereign case of the period.
Sovereign purses or holders usually seen in silver were more rarely made in gold and would hold about five or six gold sovereigns. They were typically made to be carried on one end of a gentleman's Albert or watch chain.
