A fantastic 9ct rose gold antique Edwardian Albert chain with fancy fetter & lovers knot links. Every link is stamped ‘9’ '375' and the wheat sheaf for Chester assay office and the letter ’G’ to denote the year are applied to one of the links (see image). The Albert chain can be dated to 1914, just before the outbreak of WW1.
The chain has two spring loaded, swivel 'dog' clasps both of which are in full working order. The t-bar, which is also hallmarked bears the makers mark 'EW&S' for E Whitehouse & Son.
Weighing 39.5 grams and measuring 14.5” or 370mm long the chain is a fine example with all links in excellent condition commensurate with age. Traditionally worn as a watch chain suspending a pocket watch, Albert chains can also be worn as necklaces and used to suspend charms and pendants.
