An impressive early Victorian 18ct yellow gold carnelian set fob seal with ornate scrolled gold work. This would have been used as a seal using sealing wax to confirm ownership on a letter or document with the owner’s initials. A carnelian base with the three initialed monogram 'W C D' in an ornate blackletter typeface completes this striking large seal.

The carnelian base is in excellent condition for its age with no signs of damage and the seal carving retaining all its intricate detail. A wonderful piece of social history which can be worn as a pendant or on a watch chain. A fine addition to a collector's selection.
