An impressive early 20th century 18ct yellow gold, opal and diamond three stone gypsy ring. All the gemstones are claw set with the opals displaying superb ‘fire’ showing predominantly electric turquoise in hue with flashes of blue and green. The sparkling diamonds are old mine cut diamonds typical of this particular era, dating from circa 1910. The centre opal measures 7 x 5 mm, with the diamonds estimated at 0.50ct in total.

Opals were only discovered in 1880 in Australia, these must have been exciting discoveries back in the day. Opals when paired together are often believed to create a chain of bad luck. However, when they're paired with diamonds the chain is broken and any bad luck dispelled.
