A solid, heavy 18ct yellow gold antique Edwardian Albert chain with alternating trombone and round uniform links. Every link is stamped ‘18' with the crown assay mark, a common finesse mark in England, the lion head for London and a lower case 'm' to denote the year are applied to one of the trombone links (see image). The Albert chain can be dated to 1927.

The chain has one swivel 'dog' clasp and one large spring loaded jump/bolt ring, both of which are in full working order.

Weighing at a pleaseing 44.2 grams and measuring 17” or 440mm long and 8mm wide the chain is a rare example with many similar chains having been melted down. Traditionally worn as a watch chain suspending a pocket watch, Albert chains can also be worn as necklaces and used to suspend charms and pendants.
