Antique Edwardian 18k 18ct Gold Trombone Link Albert Watch Chain, circa 1905

A solid, heavy 18 karat yellow gold antique Edwardian Albert chain with alternating trombone & round uniform links with a T-bar. Every link is stamped ‘18' with the crown assay mark, a common finesse mark in England, the anchor for Birmingham and a lower case 'f' to denote the year are applied to the large round link (see image). The Albert chain can be dated to 1905-06.

The chain has one swivel 'dog' clasp and one large spring loaded jump/bolt ring, both of which are in full working order. A great added feature with this particular chain is the t-bar is able to slide freely along the entire length of the chain, a great versatile feature.

Weighing a hefty 58.7 grams and measuring 16” or 400mm long and 8mm wide the chain is a rare example with many similar chains having been scrapped. Traditionally worn as a watch chain suspending a pocket watch, Albert chains can also be worn as necklaces and used to suspend charms and pendants.
